How does HPOG fit with our internal Human Performance framework?

The HPOG Recommended Practice is based on a general industry view. It covers all recommended focus areas of Human Performance as components of an HP program that be integrated into your existing safety management system.

What is HPOG's added value when compared to another initiative / website addressing Human Factors?

HPOG represents the ambition to create a first of it's kind hub for free to access Human Performance material, structured around a Recommended Practice document for integrating a HP program. All material is supported by leading industry experts and industry associations. 

We are a member of an industry organisation that focuses on Human Factors (e.g. Step Change in Safety, IOGP, etc.). Why should we be paying another membership fee?

HPOG will become a first of it's kind hub for free to access Human Performance material, structured around a Recommended Practice document for integrating a HP program. The initiative draws on the materials developed by others, while those parties find in HPOG a channel to get their materials known and used. 

Can a HPOG team come to my site and help me locally address Human Performance matters?

HPOG is not a service provider and does not deliver consulting services. HPOG is an industry forum aimed at promoting Human Performance knowledge and resources. 

Does HPOG deliver Human Performance training / certification ?

HPOG does not offer any training and does not certify any products or services. Recommended training courses can be found here https://www.hpog.org/capability/industry-recognised-training/ 

Can I use HPOG without any local expertise in Human Performance?

The HPOG Recommended Practice has been built on 3 levels of maturity, beginning with an awareness "starter" level. As the levels progress, more expertise in the field is required. 

How can I obtain HPOG material in other languages?

HPOG translations are provided by donation through the community. If you would like to provide a translation, please get in touch at admin@hpog.org

I'm a HPOG member, does that mean I'm a certified HPOG consultant?

I have a consultancy focused on Human Performance and Human Factors, can I approach HOPG to promote my company?

HPOG does not endorse or actively promote companies or services. Member companies are displayed on the HPOG website to show support for the initiative and provides a link to the companies website. 

We have an in-house Human Factor expert. Why should we join HPOG?

HPOG is setting out a standard approach to Human Performance that is designed to align all operators and service providers in their efforts. Materials from HPOG are based on current thinking from the likes of IOGP and accepted through a steering committee that reflects a wide range of companies from across the industry. 

All the content is free of charge and available to everyone. What’s the point of paying the membership fee?

HPOG is not for profit and relies only on membership fees to maintain the initiative. Paying for membership enables us to continue creating content and gives members the opportunity to get involved with developing new materials. 

Who manages HPOG?

Silverdot Limited is the Company charged with the global facilitation and management of HPOG and they report to the HPOG Global Steering Committee that is responsible for the worldwide management and direction of the Campaign. The Steering Committee is made up of major operators and engineering / drilling contractors. 

Is HPOG aiming to have in person events again?

HPOG committee meetings and events are virtual. However when international travel and restrictions lift, we will work on organizing in person forums and workshops.  

How are funds used in HPOG?

HPOG is not for profit. All funds raised through membership and other activities are used to support the development of new material and facilitate future events.
